Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, son of the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has resigned as Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development.
Kwankwaso announced his exit from the State Executive Council in a statement shared on his verified Facebook page on Monday.
In the statement, he said the decision to step down was taken with a heavy heart, while appreciating the opportunity to serve in the Abba Yusuf administration.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for entrusting him with the position and allowing him to contribute to governance in the state.
According to him, his time in office offered valuable lessons and practical experience in public service, particularly in engaging with young people across Kano.
The former commissioner said he remained hopeful that youth empowerment and sports development would continue to receive strong attention from the present government.
He stressed the importance of sustained investment in programmes aimed at nurturing talent and improving opportunities for young people in the state.
Kwankwaso also prayed for continued progress for Kano, asking for divine guidance for the government and its leadership.
His resignation comes amid shifting political alignments within the Kano State Government, following Governor Yusuf’s recent departure from the NNPP.
