Kano Gov removes political adviser after dumping NNPP

Must read

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relieved his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Sunusi Surajo Kwankwaso, of his appointment.

The decision was announced on Saturday in a statement issued in Kano by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature.

According to the statement, the governor has approved the appointment of Mustapha Bakwana as the new Political Adviser, with immediate effect.

Bature said the changes were part of efforts by the governor to reposition his administration and strengthen political coordination within the state.

The development came barely 24 hours after Yusuf announced his resignation from the New Nigerian Peoples Party, on whose platform he was elected governor in 2023.

The governor had attributed his decision to leave the party to prolonged internal crises and unresolved legal disputes.

Yusuf stated that the lingering challenges had weakened the party’s unity and effectiveness across the country.

He added that his actions were taken in the overall interest of stability and effective governance in Kano State.
