Bishop Oyedepo reveals how fraudster used name to scam members

Must read

Founder of the Living Faith Church, Winners Chapel Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo has revealed that he once had an encounter with a suspected fraudster who impersonated him to extort money.

While delivering a sermon during the midweek service, the cleric said the impersonator had attempted to deceive victims by claiming to be him, but the plot was eventually uncovered.

He explained that the fraudster reached out to his office and demanded to speak with him, only to be exposed after his scheme was uncovered.

“We had an experience some time back when someone was claiming to be me and that I was asking for something,” Oyedepo said during the sermon.

“My assistant called and the person said ‘can I speak to Bishop Oyedepo’? My assistant said yes, you can talk to him.

“He (victim) could not wait to make findings and said the Lord curse you,” he added.

The cleric further warned that fraudsters are not limited to the outside world, but can be found even within religious settings, noting that his photographs have been used in fraudulent schemes.

“That is the world we live in today. 419 plenty in church, plenty in market, school and everywhere,” he said.

Oyedepo urged Christians to remain truthful and vigilant, warning that those who walk in integrity will not fall victim to deception.
