The son of the Oniwo of Afin, Oba Simeon Olanipekun, who was abducted in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has regained his freedom after a ransom of ₦20 million was paid to his captors.
The victim, Olaolu Olanipekun, a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps, was released on Monday, even as his father and other residents seized during the attack remain in captivity.
A family source said that Olaolu was dropped off at a herders’ settlement around Oreke in Ifelodun before he was taken to a nearby military formation.
The source added that the family was contacted from the military base and arrangements were made to receive him.
It was further gathered that Olaolu is currently undergoing medical attention for both physical injuries and psychological trauma suffered during his ordeal.
Meanwhile, the abductors are said to be demanding an additional ₦15 million for the release of Oba Olanipekun and the remaining captives, as efforts to secure their freedom continue.
