Tinubu orders probe into Kano family killings

Must read

President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to launch a comprehensive investigation into the killing of a Kano housewife and her six children, describing the incident as a disturbing assault on public safety and human dignity.

In a reaction conveyed by his media adviser, the President expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and extended condolences to relatives and residents of the affected community.

He stressed that such violence undermines national values and must be confronted decisively.

Moreover, Tinubu acknowledged the prompt response of the Nigeria Police Force, noting that early arrests signal seriousness on the part of law enforcement.

According to him, “those responsible for crimes of this nature must face the full consequences of the law without delay.”

He further assured Nigerians that the Federal Government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property nationwide.

Hence, he warned that attacks on civilians would not be ignored or treated lightly.

Meanwhile, police authorities in Kano confirmed that the victims, Fatima Abubakar and her six children, lost their lives during an attack on their residence in the Chiranci area of the state.

The incident, which occurred over the weekend, triggered widespread outrage and calls for justice.

Confirming developments in the case, Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said officers received an emergency alert around midday on January 17, prompting an immediate security response.

“Our operatives moved swiftly, and intelligence efforts began immediately after the report,” he said.

Furthermore, the police announced the arrest of three key suspects following coordinated operations conducted between January 17 and January 18, 2026.

The arrests, Kiyawa explained, were carried out under directives from the Inspector-General of Police and with the oversight of the state police leadership.

As investigations continue, authorities insist the case will be pursued to its logical conclusion, with assurances that justice will be served for the victims and their grieving families.
