The Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count charge against a social media blogger, Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known online as @justadetoun, over alleged cyberbullying and the publication of false information against the Ogun State Government and Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The charges, which are before the Abeokuta Division of the Federal High Court, are said to stem from alleged breaches of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.
Police alleged that the blogger used various internet-based platforms to circulate false accusations and engage in online conduct described as cyberbullying targeted at the state governor.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said in a statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police that Onajobi was invited for questioning on January 2, 2026, following complaints linked to her social media posts.
According to him, the blogger failed to honour the invitation, while her lawyer reportedly wrote to the command claiming she was ill and unable to appear.
The letter, the police said, was accompanied by a medical report said to have been issued by a doctor, detailing health challenges allegedly suffered by the suspect.
Babaseyi said investigations later revealed that the medical document was forged, adding that the doctor named on the report was arrested and admitted that it was fabricated at the blogger’s request.
He disclosed that the doctor had since been arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court on charges bordering on conspiracy, presentation of a false document and obstruction of justice.
The police said Onajobi had continued to evade arrest and ignored subsequent invitations, noting that her whereabouts were currently unknown.
The command said it was also tracking other individuals allegedly involved in spreading false information aimed at obstructing police investigations.
Reaffirming its stance, the police said freedom of expression does not cover criminal acts, stressing that lawful steps would be taken to arrest Onajobi and produce her in court to face the charges already filed.
