The Ogun State Government has said a medical doctor accused of issuing a forged medical report to aid the escape of social welfare activist, Adetoun Onajobi, also known as Just Adetoun, has been remanded in custody.
The government also disclosed that Onajobi has gone into hiding, while a six-count charge has been filed against her by the Ogun State Police Command following a petition by the state.
This was made known in a statement issued on Monday via the official X handle of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN.
According to the statement, the controversy involving the activist arose after Nigerian-born British boxer, Anthony Joshua, was involved in a road accident in Ogun State in December 2025.
Ogungbade said Onajobi released videos alleging the absence of emergency ambulance services in the state and accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of neglecting public welfare.
The Attorney General described the claims as false and misleading, stating that Ogun State operates multiple emergency response and ambulance services across the state.
He said the allegations prompted the state to petition the police over alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, following which Onajobi was invited by the police on January 2, 2026.
According to the statement, she failed to honour the invitation scheduled for January 5 and allegedly went into hiding, despite publicly claiming to have evidence to support her allegations.
The activist was said to have later released another video claiming she was ill, after which her lawyer submitted a medical report to the police indicating that she was medically indisposed.
However, investigations by the police revealed that the medical document was forged, leading to the arrest of the doctor who allegedly issued it.
Ogungbade said the doctor confessed that he neither examined nor treated Onajobi and admitted that the report was fabricated.
He added that the doctor had since been charged to court and remanded for offences bordering on fraudulent medical documentation and obstruction of justice.
The Attorney General said Onajobi remains at large, questioning her credibility and insisting that a person with genuine evidence would not evade law enforcement.
The statement also accused the activist of previous misconduct, including alleged harassment of a woman in Lagos and the unlawful filming and sharing of images of a minor on social media.
PUNCH Online had earlier reported that the Ogun State Police Command confirmed inviting Onajobi following a petition over her online comments against Governor Abiodun.
The police said the invitation was issued to enable the activist respond to allegations arising from videos in which she accused the governor of prioritising social events over public welfare and questioned the state’s spending priorities.
