The Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday was thrown into confusion after the game was halted for nearly 20 minutes following a controversial late penalty awarded to Morocco.
Tensions flared in the closing moments of the match when Senegal players vehemently objected to the refereeās decision, which gave Morocco a chance to decide the final with almost the last kick of the game.
In protest, a large number of Senegal players walked off the pitch, forcing officials to suspend play as efforts were made to restore order.
The situation was further worsened by angry supporters who attempted to invade the pitch, throwing objects as security personnel moved in to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
