A family altercation during a wedding celebration in Kayari village, Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State, has resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries.
According to police sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, the incident unfolded around 6:30 p.m. on January 13 at the home of Wakili Sumaye, following a violent confrontation between the Manu and Ibrahim families.
The warring groups allegedly wielded cutlasses during the melee, inflicting severe wounds on several individuals.
Four victims, Abdullahi Manu (30), Adamu Manu (27), Ilyasu Manu (30), and Mohammadu Ibrahim (20) all residing at the same location, were transported to the Damagum Divisional Police Headquarters before being transferred to General Hospital, Damagum.
A medical doctor pronounced Abdullahi Manu dead upon arrival, while the other three casualties are currently undergoing treatment for injuries of varying severity.
The Yobe State Police Command confirmed that investigations have been launched into the incident, noting that measures are underway to arrest suspects who escaped from the scene.
