The Office of the President of the Senate has dismissed claims circulating on social media linking Senate President Godswill Akpabio to alleged appointments within a political support group known as Team Akpabio for Tinubu.
The rebuttal was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Senate President, Hon Eseme Eyiboh, in response to comments attributed to one Aondoaver Nyakuma.
The office clarified that Akpabio has no affiliation with, or operational knowledge of, the activities, appointments or internal affairs of any political support group, including those operating under the Team Akpabio for Tinubu name.
It explained that such groups are voluntary associations formed independently by their members and do not require the approval, endorsement or authorisation of the Senate President to operate.
The statement further noted that Akpabio does not know Nyakuma and has never appointed him, or anyone else, to any position within any political support group.
Eyiboh also stressed that the Senate President maintains a cordial institutional relationship with the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, and is not involved in intra-state political disputes, urging the public to disregard claims linking Akpabio to private political groups.
