Kaduna State Government has firmly rejected circulating claims suggesting irregularities in the death sentence handed to Victor Solomon, also known as Zidane, describing them as false and misleading.
Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, James Kanyip, said the confusion online stems from conflating two separate trials, each involving different offences and victims.
“Victor Solomon faced two distinct legal proceedings.
“The outcomes are separate and entirely consistent with the law,” Kanyip said. “There is no contradiction in the court records being referenced online.”
He explained that Solomon was acquitted in a 2024 trial concerning criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide, but lawfully convicted in 2026 for a different case involving criminal conspiracy, grievous harm, and culpable homicide, resulting in a death sentence.
“The conviction was reached after full judicial scrutiny, based solely on evidence presented in court,” Kanyip added, emphasizing that Solomon retains the constitutional right to appeal to the Supreme Court.
The Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, warned that spreading unverified claims about court rulings could destabilize public order.
“Sharing half-truths or false information about judicial decisions is dangerous.
“Residents should verify facts before posting or forwarding content online,” Maiyaki said.
The state government reaffirmed that under Governor Uba Sani’s leadership, governance will remain rooted in the rule of law, fairness, and transparency, assuring citizens that justice in Kaduna will always be impartial and thorough.
