The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed shock and disappointment over claims that he was described as an enemy by a former Kano State governor, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Ganduje’s reaction followed reports attributed to Kwankwaso amid recent political developments in Kano State, including speculations surrounding Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the All Progressives Congress.
In a post on his social media handles on Tuesday, the former Kano governor dismissed the label, saying he was surprised to hear such remarks from someone he regarded as a close ally.
Ganduje said he had never, at any point, considered Kwankwaso an adversary, stressing that their long-standing relationship should rise above political disagreements.
He described the situation as unfortunate, noting that politics should not be allowed to divide Kano State or undermine unity among its leaders.
Calling for calm, Ganduje urged Kwankwaso to tone down political tensions and embrace dialogue for the progress of the state.
He added that this was the right time for Kano to focus on unity and collective development rather than deepen political rifts.
