Mohammed Ali Jajari, who flew the Peoples Democratic Party’s flag in Borno State during the 2023 governorship race, has withdrawn from the party, marking a significant shift in his political trajectory and future alliances.
The former candidate described his decision as a principled break driven by dissatisfaction with internal dynamics that, according to him, have distanced the party from its founding objectives and the expectations of ordinary citizens.
He indicated that remaining within the PDP had become incompatible with his vision of public service.
Details of the development emerged from a resignation letter dated January 12, 2026, which Jajari addressed to the PDP leadership at the YawaKura Ward level in Borno State.
In the letter, he argued that persistent challenges within the party made it difficult for him to continue pursuing his political goals under its platform.
However, he acknowledged the support he received from party leaders, members, and supporters over the years, particularly during the build-up to the 2023 governorship election.
“I appreciate the cooperation and sacrifices of everyone who stood with me during that journey,” he said.
Subsequently, Jajari announced his decision to pitch his tent with the African Democratic Congress, calling on associates and supporters who share his convictions to join him.
He maintained that the ADC provides a broader coalition and a renewed framework for addressing governance issues and advancing the interests of the people.
