Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have launched a fresh attack on Otobi-Akpa community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, leaving at least four residents dead and several others missing.
The assailants reportedly stormed the community around midnight on Tuesday, shooting indiscriminately and triggering panic among residents, who fled their homes in search of safety.
The attack was said to have lasted for hours, as the gunmen moved through parts of the community unchallenged.
Those killed in the assault were identified as Hon. Ochi Ayedu, Eje Uzu, Alinko and Achibi, while the whereabouts of some residents remain unknown as of the time of filing this report.
The latest incident has heightened fear in the area, coming only months after the same community suffered a deadly attack in which no fewer than 13 persons were killed.
During the earlier assault, many residents were injured, several others went missing, and more than 50 houses were reportedly set ablaze.
