AFCON 2025: CAF removes two referees ahead of semi-finals
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has dropped two match officials — Boubou Traoré of Mali and Abdou Abdel Mefire of Cameroon — from the remainder of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The tournament is approaching its decisive stage, with the semi-finals scheduled for Wednesday.
Senegal will face Egypt at 6:00 pm, while Nigeria will take on host nation Morocco at 9:00 pm to determine the finalists.
As CAF narrowed the list of referees for the semi-finals, third-place playoff, and final, no official reason was given for the removal of Traoré and Mefire.
