Police summon ex-Rivers SSG over alleged assassination plot against Wike

Must read

The Rivers State Police Command has summoned former Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, for questioning over an alleged plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

As reported by Daily Post, the invitation followed a leaked phone conversation involving Danagogo and a previously arrested suspect, Pastor Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, a Port Harcourt–based clergyman.

The police reportedly intercepted the call, which allegedly contained discussions on recruiting Israeli nationals to carry out the assassination.

Although the official police invitation did not specify the reason for Danagogo’s summons, an anonymous source told reporters that the call is central to the investigation.

“Danagogo and Pastor Tombari were talking about a plot to invite Israelis to kill the Minister. The leaked phone conversation is with the police, and he has been invited for questioning,” the source said.

Earlier, Gbeneol was arrested over the alleged plot. Authorities claim the conversation between him and Danagogo concluded with a proposal to seek financial support from Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara to fund the operation.

Attempts to reach the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringo Koko, for comment were met with a promise to confirm and respond later.

“Let me confirm and I will get back to you,” she said.

The police are yet to release further details about the investigation or the involvement of other individuals.
