Kano commissioner donate 10 bicycles to staff for transportation

Must read

The Kano State Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives has taken a welfare-focused step by providing transport support to junior employees, amid persistent concerns over rising commuting costs and staff productivity.

In line with this initiative, the commissioner, Gwani Shehu Wada Sagagi, distributed 10 bicycles to selected junior workers of the ministry, describing the move as a practical response to daily transportation challenges faced by low-income staff.

The intervention, according to officials, is intended to ease financial pressure while improving punctuality and morale.

Moreover, Sagagi explained that the gesture was personally funded and formed part of activities marking his one year in office.

He noted that junior employees remain the backbone of effective service delivery and deserve targeted support.

“When workers are supported in simple but meaningful ways, their commitment to duty improves,” he said.

The commissioner further disclosed that the current distribution represents only the first phase, adding that an additional set of bicycles would be provided to other deserving staff in the coming weeks to ensure broader coverage within the ministry.

Reacting to the development, beneficiaries expressed appreciation, noting that the bicycles would significantly reduce their daily transport expenses.

Some staff members described the gesture as timely, particularly in the face of increasing fuel prices and transport fares.

The presentation took place at the ministry’s headquarters in Kano, where management staff commended the initiative and urged other public office holders to adopt similar staff-focused welfare measures.
