The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated the Super Eagles for booking a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Morocco.
Akpabio’s congratulatory message was conveyed in a statement on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, following Nigeria’s 2–0 victory over Algeria in their quarter-final clash in Marrakech.
Describing the national team as the pride of the country, the Senate President said the Super Eagles’ performance reflected their dedication, resilience and strong team spirit throughout the tournament.
He noted that the emphatic win against Algeria was a clear indication of the team’s determination to reclaim continental glory and restore Nigeria’s dominance in African football.
Akpabio urged the players to remain focused and sustain their momentum as they prepare to face tournament hosts, Morocco, in the semi-final encounter scheduled for Wednesday.
He added that the 10th Senate and Nigerians across the country were solidly behind the team, expressing confidence that the Super Eagles have what it takes to bring the AFCON trophy back home.
