2027: Fayose doubts Wike, Fubara’s capacity to win Rivers for Tinubu

Must read

Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, lack the political capacity to deliver Rivers State to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Fayose made the assertion in a video shared on his Facebook page on Saturday, where he commented on the ongoing political tension in Rivers State and its implications for future elections.

He argued that neither Wike nor Fubara commands sufficient grassroots support to secure victory for the All Progressives Congress in the state through a free and fair electoral process.

According to him, electoral success in Rivers would depend more on the actions of electoral and security agencies than on the political influence of the two leaders.

Fayose further claimed that the dispute between the former governor and his successor was not driven by the interests of Rivers residents but by a struggle for political control and access to state resources.

He alleged that Governor Fubara had built up substantial financial reserves, which he claimed was a major factor behind the rift between the two camps.

Fayose also maintained that the possible presence of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on the ballot in 2027 would further weaken the APC’s prospects in Rivers State.

He dismissed ongoing political tours and consultations by the rival camps, describing them as ineffective and lacking the voter backing needed to influence the outcome of the election.
