BREAKING: Gunmen attack national park office in Oyo, five feared killed

Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Tuesday night attacked the National Park Service office in Oloka, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, killing no fewer than five personnel.

Findings showed that the attack occurred at about 9pm, throwing the community into panic and forcing residents to flee their homes.

Sources said the assailants stormed the facility and opened fire on officers on duty, leaving several casualties, although official figures were yet to be released as of press time.

The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the attack when contacted, noting that security operatives had been mobilised to the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, told The PUNCH, “Yes, there was an attack by yet to be identified men against the men of the National Park. The Commissioner of Police and other service chiefs are currently on their way to the location.

“Meanwhile, the CP Femi Haruna has deployed tactical teams, Mobile Police Force officers of the NPF and EOD to the affected area to prevent further breakdown of law and order,” he explained.
