Popular Nollywood Actress, Omoborty has criticised what she described as unhealthy attitudes among some colleagues over support and promotion of films.
In a post shared on Instagram on Tuesday, the actress called out actors who feature in movies but become unavailable or uncooperative when it is time to promote the projects. She said such behaviour is unfair to producers and others who invest in filmmaking.
She wrote, “I WANT TO ADDRESS TWO CATEGORIES OF PEOPLE IN MY INDUSTRY. FIRST, ACTORS WHO FEATURE IN MOVIES BUT MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO SUPPORT THE PRODUCER WHEN IT IS TIME FOR PROMOTION. YOU PEOPLE ARE NOT GOD O. ALL YOU ARE SHOWING IS HOW WICKED AND UNSUPPORTIVE YOU CAN BE.”
Omoborty also spoke about colleagues she described as unwilling to support others, even when it costs nothing. She said she has promoted many films she did not appear in because she believes support should be given freely.
“SECOND, SOME COLLEAGUES WHO ARE EXTREMELY STINGY WITH SUPPORT. WITH MY FULL CHEST, I CAN CONFIDENTLY SAY I HAVE PROMOTED MANY MOVIES I DID NOT EVEN FEATURE IN. I DID IT WILLINGLY BECAUSE SUPPORT COSTS NOTHING,” she wrote.
According to the actress, envy and poor character have made some people see another person’s progress as a threat instead of inspiration.
“BUT SOME OF YOU ARE SO FULL OF HATE, ENVY, AND IWA OSHI THAT SUPPORTING OTHERS FEELS LIKE A BURDEN TO YOU. YOU SEE ANOTHER PERSON’S PROGRESS AS A THREAT INSTEAD OF INSPIRATION.”
Omoborty did not mention any names.
