Pandemonium in Kano as rival gangs clash, one dead

Must read

A violent confrontation between rival gangs in Kano has left one man dead and nine suspects in police custody, authorities confirmed.

The deadly fracas reportedly erupted following a personal dispute that escalated into nighttime chaos.

Eyewitnesses said the clash involved two rival factions, led by Kabalo Snu and Faizu Mohammed, also known as Chabross of Yar Kasuwa, Kawo Quarters.

“It was sudden; the tension had been building, and then everything exploded in minutes,” one source recounted.

The fatal incident reportedly began earlier in the day, around 1:40 p.m., when Faizu allegedly injured Kabalo during a confrontation.

Retaliation came hours later, escalating into a violent skirmish that ended tragically.

During the nighttime attack, Faizu was stabbed in the neck and rushed to Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Specialist Hospital.

Medical staff confirmed he died while receiving treatment. His body was later released to relatives for burial.

Despite initial calm, tension flared again in the early hours of January 5, as intelligence indicated that more suspected thugs were mobilising at Kawo Quarters, reportedly planning another attack on Kabalo’s residence in Mariri Quarters.

Police responded swiftly, arriving to find suspects had broken into a shop owned by Kabalo.

Officers arrested nine individuals and recovered weapons and other items linked to the violence, while several others escaped.

Authorities say normalcy has returned to the affected neighbourhoods, with investigations ongoing. Police have pledged to apprehend the fleeing suspects and prevent further disturbances in the area.
