Bauchi State has expanded its traditional leadership structure with 142 newly appointed district heads.
Appointments span 20 emirates and one chiefdom, targeting stronger grassroots administration statewide.
Announcement came through the Local Government Service Commission Chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Wabi, during a briefing.
Wabi confirmed appointment letters were issued, allowing immediate assumption of duties.
Accordingly, selections followed the Bauchi State Chieftaincy Appointment and Deposition Law 2025 framework.
He said reforms legally reposition traditional institutions for efficiency and relevance.
Moreover, the law established 20 emirate councils and chiefdoms across the state.
That restructuring, he said, required capable district heads to manage community affairs effectively.
Furthermore, Wabi stressed improved collaboration between traditional rulers and government authorities.
“Stronger coordination at the community level remains critical for responsive governance,” he said.
Meanwhile, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed received commendation for backing the reforms.
Stakeholders were also praised for supporting the restructuring process.
Consequently, newly appointed leaders were urged to act with fairness and accountability.
Wabi said government priorities remain peace, unity, and sustainable development across Bauchi communities.
