Security forces rescue 20 abducted villagers in Zamfara

Must read

Security operatives have rescued 20 villagers abducted from Dunfawa village in the Moriki District of Zurmi Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

Security sources said the victims were freed unharmed after armed bandits attacked the community on Saturday, triggering fear and panic among residents.

The rescue operation was carried out around 4pm after joint security patrol teams intensified pressure on the abductors within the Moriki axis.

The sustained operation reportedly forced the bandits to flee and abandon their captives while escaping the area.

According to sources, “All the 20 abducted persons were rescued safely and without injuries. They were taken to a government hospital for medical check-up and later debriefed before being reunited with their families.”

The sources added that security patrols have been reinforced across the area to forestall further attacks and to aid ongoing efforts to rescue other abducted persons in neighbouring communities.

Residents of Dunfawa village expressed relief over the development and urged security agencies to sustain a strong presence to deter future abductions.
