The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Benibo Anabraba, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party.
Anabraba, in a letter dated January 5, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Chairman, Ward 1, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, formally announced his resignation from the main opposition party.
The SSG described his decision to quit the PDP as “personal” but thanked the party for the “political leverage” he enjoyed during his membership.
Although he did not state his next political destination, sources close to the SSG disclosed that he was set to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The development is coming amid the lingering political crisis in Rivers State, which has seen prominent politicians switching allegiances.
When contacted, the state PDP spokesman could not be reached for comments as of the time of filing this report.
