Eno, Akpabio reaffirm Akwa Ibom support for Tinubu

Must read

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has declared that the people of the state, cutting across political affiliations, remain united in their backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope agenda, describing the support as collective and resolute.

Governor Eno made the assertion during a New Year courtesy visit to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, where he emphasised that Akwa Ibom had aligned itself firmly behind the current administration in the interest of national development and stability.

During the visit, which took place at Akpabio’s residence in Uyo, the governor said the homage was both symbolic and deliberate, noting that it was meant to appreciate the Senate President’s leadership and national visibility, which he said had brought pride to the state.

“We assure you that we are holding the ground at home. Akwa Ibom is united for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and united for you,” Eno said, adding that recent public demonstrations, including a youth-led rally, reflected widespread endorsement of the President, Akpabio, and the state government.

Moreover, the governor acknowledged internal political disagreements but dismissed them as insignificant, insisting that the broader outlook showed unity and shared political direction ahead of 2027.

Eno also commended Akpabio for directing the withdrawal of court cases against individuals who had allegedly defamed him, describing the decision as an act of mature leadership and moral strength.

“Forgiveness is a virtue of the strong. It takes character to rise above personal hurt for the greater good,” he said.

Responding, Akpabio praised Governor Eno for fostering unity in Akwa Ibom and for his open support of President Tinubu’s reform policies, noting that the administration’s success was directly tied to the country’s progress.

“The reforms may be painful, but they are yielding results,” Akpabio said. “We are focused on supporting the President because if he succeeds, Nigeria succeeds.”

The Senate President further applauded the governor’s performance in infrastructure development, human empowerment, and peace-building, stating that the impact of his governance would endure beyond his tenure.

Quoting novelist Chinua Achebe, Akpabio underscored the importance of unity, saying communal harmony, rather than individual interest, was driving the current political atmosphere in the state.

He concluded by wishing the governor and the people of Akwa Ibom a prosperous New Year, expressing confidence that the prevailing unity would continue to benefit future generations.
