2027: I never asked anyone not to support Peter Obi – Momodu

Must read

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has dismissed claims that he discouraged support for former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who recently defected to the party.

Momodu’s reaction followed a post by an X user, @judeski007, who questioned the idea of presenting an elderly candidate for the 2027 presidential election, despite expressing support for the ADC-led coalition.

“Bob Dee, I hope you see this… I have been rooting for the ADC coalition and rightly so, however, note that we cannot be projecting an 80 year old man as a candidate unless it’s for your own future personal gains. I will definitely root for Tinubu should Atiku emerge,” the X user had said.

Responding via his verified X handle on Sunday, Momodu clarified that he never opposed anyone backing Obi, stressing that political choices remain personal and should not attract hostility.

“There is nowhere I told you not to route for OBI. He’s not my enemy. But it is my right to state the facts and historical evidence that are available to me. My choice is also mine. We do not have to trade insults. In this game of numbers, every participant is important.”
