Turaki-led PDP faction collapses structure into Wike’s camp

Must read

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, has collapsed its structure into the Aaron Chukwuemeka-led faction aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in Rivers State.

The development was announced on Friday by the factional chairman of the Turaki-led PDP in the state, Robinson Nname Ewor, during Wike’s visit to Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.

The move signals a major realignment within the opposition party in the state and raises questions over the continued existence of the Turaki-backed faction.

Ewor’s declaration came barely 24 hours after he accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of misleading PDP members by claiming he could politically defeat Wike in the ongoing power struggle in Rivers State.

The factional chairman said the decision marked the end of parallel leadership structures within the party in the state.

He said, “Finally before I go. I’m Sim’s PDP Chairman. I hope you people know. You people should know. I’m his Chairman.

“Today, I’m handing over that Chairmanship, leadership of that faction to Aaron Chukwuemeka.

“PDP is no longer factionalized in Rivers State. PDP is under one Chairman and under one leadership, under the FCT leader.”

The announcement effectively places the PDP structure in Rivers State under the leadership loyal to Wike, further consolidating his influence within the party in the state.
