Fresh violence has once again unsettled residents of the Faruruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, following a coordinated bandit attack that claimed the lives of a Nigerian soldier and a civilian.
The incident, which triggered fear and renewed concern over security in the area, also resulted in the rustling of a large number of cattle, further compounding the losses suffered by the agrarian community.
Security analyst Bakatsine disclosed the development in a post on his X page on Friday, January 1, 2026, citing accounts from local sources familiar with the situation.
According to the information shared, the attackers struck late at night and operated for several hours, maintaining their assault until around 5:00 a.m., underscoring the scale and persistence of the operation.
A resident, who spoke anonymously due to safety concerns, said the community was left helpless.
“The attack went on for hours. People were trapped indoors, and no help came until it was over,” the source said.
The latest incident adds to a growing list of violent attacks attributed to armed bandits across parts of Kano State, raising questions about the effectiveness of existing security measures.
Another local source lamented the recurring violence, noting that “these attacks are no longer isolated.
“They are becoming routine, and people are losing confidence that the situation will improve.”
As casualties mount and livelihoods are destroyed, residents are once again calling on security agencies and the government to intensify efforts to curb banditry and restore peace to vulnerable communities.
For many in Faruruwa and surrounding areas, the pressing concern remains how long they must continue to live under the shadow of armed violence and uncertainty.
