Grammy-winning Nigerian Singer, Damini Ogulu, well known as Burna Boy, has set a new record with his I Told Them world tour, which has been confirmed as the highest-grossing tour by an African artiste.
Figures released by touring analytics platform Touring Data show that the tour earned a total of $30.5 million from 302,801 tickets sold across 22 shows in Europe and North America.
The tour, which ran between November 2023 and March 2024, supported Burna Boy’s seventh studio album, I Told Them, released in August 2023. It featured performances in major cities including London, Paris, Manchester, Berlin, Antwerp, Chicago and Houston.
One of the major highlights of the tour was Burna Boy’s concert at the London Stadium, where he performed to 58,973 fans and grossed over $6 million. The show is regarded as the highest-grossing single concert by an African artiste.
Other stops included the Stade de France in Paris, where more than 43,000 tickets were sold, as well as multiple sold-out arena shows across Europe and the United States. Touring Data reported that the tour recorded an average ticket sale rate of about 86 per cent.
The figures also show a near-even split between Europe and North America, with both regions contributing over $15 million each to the total revenue.
