Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has clarified that he is not joining the Africa Democratic Congress, insisting he has been a member of the party’s coalition from inception.
Obi, who spoke during an X Space session on Sunday night, dismissed claims that he was joining the ADC, stating that he cannot “re-join” what he is already part of.
“I am not joining ADC. I can’t re-join what I am already a part of,” the former Anambra State governor declared.
“I’ve been part of the coalition from day one. Nobody is stepping down for me in ADC. We have all agreed to work together.”
The clarification comes amid ongoing speculation about political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obi also used the occasion to reaffirm his respect for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, describing him as “my respected leader.”
The former presidential candidate’s statement appeared aimed at dousing tensions and dispelling rumours of fresh political movements within the opposition camp.
