SGF Akume marries Queen Zaynab, former Ooni’s wife

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has entered into a new marital union with Queen Zaynab Ngohemba, a former wife of the Ooni of Ife, marking a development that has drawn public attention across political and cultural circles.

The confirmation of the marriage emerged through a celebratory message shared on social media by Abraham Double-d Dajoh, a member of the Dajoh family, who announced that the union had been formally sealed.

Moreover, the family disclosed that Queen Zaynab was officially received into the Akume family home in Mbakor, Benue State, during a traditional ceremony held earlier this month, signalling the completion of customary rites.

Describing the occasion as symbolic, the Dajoh family said the marriage represents a unique and joyful chapter in the life of the senior government official.

According to them, the union was embraced with warmth and collective pride by relatives and well-wishers.

“We are delighted to welcome Queen Zaynab into our family as the wife of our father, brother, and leader,” the family said, adding that the marriage holds special meaning for them due to its cultural and personal significance.

Furthermore, the family extended appreciation to Akume’s political allies and supporters nationwide, urging them to maintain their loyalty and goodwill toward the SGF as he begins this new phase of his personal life.

“We remain grateful to everyone who has consistently stood by him, and we ask that this support continues as he builds his home with Queen Zaynab,” the statement added.

Queen Zaynab was previously known as Olori Wuraola during her brief marriage to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, which lasted about 17 months before ending in 2017.

However, her entry into the Dajoh household was described as deeply rooted in tradition, reflecting the family’s strong ties to Mbakor and Benue State at large, often referred to as Nigeria’s Food Basket.

“Benue welcomes you, Mbakor receives you, and the Dajoh family opens its doors to you as our own,” the family said, formally ushering Queen Zaynab into her new home.
