Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has dismissed four of his aides after an internal investigation linked them to the alleged assault of a serving councillor, reinforcing his administration’s stance against violence and official misconduct.
The action followed the conclusion of a probe into an attack on Abdulrahman Abubakar Sheriff, who represents Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area.
Findings from the inquiry reportedly established the involvement of the affected aides in the incident.
According to a government statement issued yesterday, the decision was formally communicated by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, after a special committee submitted its report on the matter.
Furthermore, the report was said to have been supported by independent assessments from security agencies, providing additional grounds for the governor’s approval of the dismissals.
Those disengaged include Adamu Abdullahi Danko, Senior Special Assistant II (Domestic); Garba Mohammed Mai Rago, Senior Special Assistant II (Political); Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant II (Social Media); and Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya, Senior Special Assistant II (Community Relations).
Governor Yahaya directed that the terminations take immediate effect and ordered the former aides to return all government property in their possession to the appropriate authorities without delay.
Reacting to the development, the governor’s spokesman, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said the administration would not shield any official found culpable of abuse or violence.
“Public office comes with responsibility, and this government will not condone actions that undermine public trust or the rule of law,” he said.
Moreover, the governor reiterated that his administration maintains zero tolerance for misconduct, stressing that disciplinary measures would continue to apply to all officials, regardless of status or position.
