A chieftain of the Labour Party in Abia State and Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters, Hon. Luke Onyeani Ukara, has assured residents of a peaceful and hitch-free Christmas celebration across the state.
Ukara said the administration of Governor Alex Otti had laid critical infrastructure and strengthened governance structures to guarantee a safe and joyous yuletide for citizens and visitors.
He noted that the state government had completed several developmental projects across different parts of Abia in the past two years, adding that the visible progress recorded had repositioned the state on the path of economic growth.
The former lawmaker stated that the Otti-led administration had also improved education, healthcare delivery and human capital development through the implementation of key policies and programmes since assuming office.
According to him, Abia has continued to enjoy relative peace, stressing that criminal elements no longer have safe havens to carry out attacks on innocent residents.
Ukara attributed the improved security situation to the effective security architecture put in place by the present administration, while commending security agencies for their sustained efforts in curbing violent crimes.
He assured Abians travelling in and out of the state for the Christmas and New Year festivities that security agencies had been placed on red alert to ensure the safety of lives and property.
Ukara also praised the cordial relationship between the executive arm of government and the Abia State House of Assembly, noting that the synergy had strengthened democratic institutions and enhanced the delivery of dividends of democracy.
He further thanked the people of the state for their support and cooperation, assuring them of increased developmental initiatives and democratic dividends from the state government in 2026.
