Must read

A property owner in Boji-Boji Owa, Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State, has been killed in a dispute with his tenant over electricity charges.

The deceased, identified as Mr. Lucky Obaze, was allegedly stabbed to death following a disagreement over N1,500 electricity bill.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe confirmed the killing but gave few details about how the incident unfolded.

Edafe disclosed that two suspects connected to the murder have fled and remain wanted by the police.

A source familiar with the matter said trouble started when Obaze visited the tenant’s one-room apartment to collect payment for electricity consumption.

The tenant, who lives in the compound with his brother, reportedly got into a heated exchange with the landlord over the amount demanded.

After the confrontation, Obaze went upstairs to his flat, apparently believing the matter had ended, the source said.

However, the tenant allegedly armed himself with a knife, followed the landlord and stabbed him, resulting in his death.
