Dangote Petroleum Refinery has introduced a nationwide consumer hotline aimed at checking fuel price abuses and ensuring Nigerians benefit from its newly announced pump price of N739 per litre for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
Through the dedicated line, 0800 123 5264, motorists can report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling station selling petrol above the approved rate.
According to the refinery, the move is designed to promote transparency and protect consumers across more than 2,000 MRS outlets nationwide.
Moreover, the initiative follows the refinery’s rollout of nationwide PMS distribution at the regulated price, a step it described as a deliberate effort to stabilise the market and reduce pressure on household spending, particularly during the festive season.
A statement from the refinery noted that Nigerians should not tolerate inflated prices when locally refined fuel is available.
“Consumers deserve fair pricing, and we urge them to speak up if any station violates the approved rate. Reporting such cases helps ensure the benefits of local refining reach everyone,” the company said.
Furthermore, Dangote Refinery assured the public of uninterrupted supply, disclosing that it maintains a daily production capacity of about 50 million litres.
This, it said, eliminates any justification for price hikes or scarcity-driven practices.
The company also warned against attempts to engineer fuel shortages in response to the price reduction.
“Any move to manipulate supply or create artificial scarcity undermines national interest and will not be tolerated,” the statement said, while urging regulators to enforce compliance decisively.
Hence, consumers were advised to patronise stations selling at the approved price and resist paying more, as locally refined fuel remains readily available.
The refinery added that domestic production is already helping Nigeria conserve foreign exchange, stabilise the naira, and strengthen energy security.
