Troops seize vehicles, supplies meant for ISWAP in Borno

Must read

Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have disrupted a suspected supply network linked to Islamic State West Africa Province after intercepting two pick-up vans believed to be ferrying logistics to insurgents in Borno State.

The interception, carried out by soldiers operating in Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force, followed actionable intelligence pointing to the covert movement of supplies across state lines. Moreover, local security volunteers played a supporting role in the operation.

Military authorities confirmed that the vehicles were stopped while moving from Dapchi in neighbouring Yobe State toward the Magumeri axis of Borno.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops mounted a tactical deployment along the route and blocked the movement.

Items recovered from the vehicles suggest a well-organised logistics chain.

Recovered materials included two civilian pick-up vans, dozens of spare tyres and rims, bicycles, ignition key starters, alternators, food items, household materials, clothing, mobile phones, and cash in various denominations.

Commenting on the operation, the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, said the seizure highlights the growing effectiveness of intelligence-led counterterrorism efforts.

“This operation shows how timely intelligence and community cooperation can significantly weaken terrorist support systems,” he said.

Furthermore, Uba disclosed that the drivers of the intercepted vehicles are currently in military custody and undergoing interrogation.

According to him, investigators are working to establish the extent of their involvement and identify possible links to wider insurgent networks.

He added that troops remain focused on cutting off insurgents from vital supplies and restricting their movement across the North-East.

“Our forces will continue to deny terrorists access to logistics while protecting civilians and critical routes,” he said.

The latest operation comes amid sustained military pressure on terror groups operating in the region.

In a related development earlier this year, security forces intercepted a large cache of weapons in Zamfara State during a joint operation targeting suspected arms traffickers with cross-border links.

AFRIPOST reports that continued collaboration between the military, intelligence agencies, and local security groups remains critical to dismantling insurgent logistics and restoring long-term stability in Nigeria’s conflict-affected areas.
