Security has been significantly reinforced across Maiduguri and adjoining routes as the Borno State Police Command intensifies preparations for the President’s visit to the state on Friday, December 20, 2025.
Police authorities disclosed that the operation involves a comprehensive security framework designed to guarantee a safe and orderly presidential engagement, while also ensuring minimal disruption to residents’ daily activities.
The deployment, according to the command, covers both strategic locations and major access corridors within the state capital.
Speaking on the arrangements, the Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Naziru Abdulmajid, said the command had activated a multi-layered security architecture drawing personnel from conventional policing units, tactical formations, surveillance teams, crowd control operatives, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal squads.
He noted that the measures were aimed at preventing any security breach and ensuring a hitch-free movement throughout the visit.
“This operation reflects our commitment to proactive policing and public safety,” Abdulmajid said.
“Every necessary resource has been mobilised to secure the President, residents, and critical infrastructure before, during, and after the visit.”
Moreover, the police warned that temporary traffic restrictions and diversions may be enforced at intervals, particularly along the Airport Road axis through the parallel route linking Shehu Road in Maiduguri.
Motorists were urged to exercise patience, plan their movements accordingly, and comply with directives issued by officers deployed on traffic and security duties.
The command further reassured residents that normalcy would be promptly restored once official movements were concluded.
It also appealed for sustained public cooperation, stressing that effective security depends on collective vigilance.
In addition, residents were encouraged to promptly report any suspicious movement or security-related concerns to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
The police listed 0806 807 5581 and 0802 347 3293 as active contact numbers for the duration of the visit.
Reaffirming its stance, the Borno State Police Command stated that the protection of lives and property remains its core mandate, hence the heightened alert around the presidential engagement.
