President Bola Tinubu on Friday attended the 15th National Executive Committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
The meeting commenced at about 6:05pm with the arrival of the President at the venue.
Friday’s session marked the party’s second NEC meeting in 2025, following an earlier gathering held in February.
It was also the first NEC meeting since Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda emerged as the national chairman of the ruling party in July.
The opening prayer at the meeting was said by the Governor of Taraba State, Kefas Agbu, who led the Christian prayer.
The meeting followed the rescheduling of the APC National Caucus and NEC meetings from December 15 and 16 to December 18 and 19, with the NEC holding at the Presidential Villa.
Several governors and top party leaders were present at the venue, including serving and former governors as well as principal officers of the National Assembly.
Also in attendance were six governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party who recently defected to the APC, among them Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah; Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri; Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno; and Taraba State Governor, Kefas Agbu.
The APC National Executive Committee is the party’s highest decision-making body between conventions, with powers to take binding decisions on party administration, policy direction and electoral preparations.
