Kidnappers demand N500m for release of Kwara construction workers

Must read

Suspected terrorists who abducted seven construction workers in Oba community, Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, have reportedly set a ransom of N500 million for their freedom.

A family member of one of the victims told SaharaReporters on Wednesday that the kidnappers contacted them directly, making the enormous demand clear.

“The kidnappers have reached out and are insisting on N500 million before they will release the workers,” the source said.

“We are appealing to the Kwara State Government and security agencies to act quickly to secure their release.”

The victims include two staff members of the Kwara State Ministry of Works, who were seized while working on a local construction project. The attackers reportedly took the workers into the bush without encountering resistance.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the ransom demand, but the families and community leaders are urging immediate intervention to prevent the situation from worsening.

Experts warn that failure to respond promptly could embolden kidnappers, emphasising the urgency of coordinated action by law enforcement to protect vulnerable workers and communities.
