BREAKING: Plateau gov Muftwang defects to APC

Must read

In a stunning political shift that strengthens the ruling party’s grip on the North Central region, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a major boost for President Bola Tinubu’s administration ahead of future elections.

This move ends months of speculation and delivers the entire North Central zone under APC control, signalling growing dominance for the ruling party amid ongoing opposition crises.

The defection consolidates APC’s influence in a region previously split by partisan divides, with analysts viewing it as a strategic realignment that could enhance federal support for development projects in Plateau State.

The announcement came during the APC’s 14th national caucus meeting at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, where APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yelwata, who hails from Plateau State, personally revealed the development.

Yelwata declared, “With the defection of Governor Mutfwang, the entire North Central is now governed by the APC.”
