The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Professor Chituru Godwill Orluwene as the new Chief Medical Director of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.
Wike also thanked the President for finding another indigene of Rivers State worthy of a federal appointment, describing the decision as a reflection of Tinubu’s goodwill towards the state and its people.
“the President has consistently demonstrated his love for Rivers State and its people, and we will keep supporting him to continue with his good governance,” Wike said.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the minister described the appointment as “President Tinubu putting another round peg in a round hole.”
Wike urged Prof. Orluwene to deploy his wealth of experience to further improve the teaching hospital in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, while also thanking the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, for recommending the appointment.
“I congratulate Prof Orluwene on this appointment and urge him to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in UPTH to ensure the continued delivery of quality healthcare services to Nigerians,” he added.
