The Senate has approved the nominations of three non-career ambassadors, marking the first set of ambassadorial nominees submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The confirmed nominees are Lateef Kayode Kolawole from Ogun State, Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Emmanuel Ayodele Oke, CFR, from Oyo State.
Their confirmation followed the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, which screened the nominees last week.
A total of 64 other ambassadorial nominees previously forwarded by the President are yet to be confirmed by the upper chamber.
President Tinubu transmitted the names of the three non-career nominees to the Senate on November 26, representing his first batch of ambassadorial appointments since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
He later submitted an additional list of 32 ambassadorial nominees, including former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, ex-INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, former Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, and ex-presidential aide Reno Omokri.
