President Bola Tinubu is holding a closed-door meeting with the nation’s Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting is Tinubu’s first engagement with the military high command since the swearing-in of General Christopher Musa (retd) as Minister of Defence on December 4.
It comes amid growing security concerns, particularly the continued captivity of 115 students abducted from a Catholic boarding school in November.
Recall that on November 26, the President declared a national security emergency, ordered fresh recruitment into security agencies and directed the withdrawal of police personnel attached to VIPs.
The talks are also taking place days after the Senate approved Tinubu’s request to deploy Nigerian troops to the Republic of Benin following an attempted coup in the neighbouring country.
As of the time of filing this report, details of the meeting had not been disclosed.
