Nigeria’s Air Force has carried out a precision airstrike that dismantled what military officials described as an active terrorist logistics and coordination site, following weeks of intelligence-led monitoring.
According to the NAF, actionable intelligence pointed to the existence of a covert terrorist workshop in the area, alongside persistent movement of armed fighters, raising concerns about an imminent threat.
Moreover, an integrated air task force was assembled to execute a blend of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, working in tandem with strike aircraft to ensure accuracy and limit collateral damage.
Pre-strike surveillance, officials disclosed, revealed a pattern of repeated terrorist activity, with several vehicles carefully hidden under thick vegetation, suggesting deliberate efforts to evade detection.
Further analysis confirmed the location as a functional support base used for storing equipment, coordinating movements, and facilitating attacks, thereby elevating it to a high-value military target.
NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said continuous monitoring on the day of the operation reaffirmed earlier intelligence, as fighters were seen moving within the compound and around the concealed vehicles.
“Once positive identification was achieved, the operation proceeded strictly within approved Rules of Engagement,” Ejodame said.
“The strike was deliberate, measured, and guided entirely by verified intelligence.”
Post-operation assessments, according to the Air Force, showed that the targeted vehicles were destroyed and several terrorist elements were neutralised, significantly disrupting operations within the network.
Ejodame added that the outcome reflected the Air Force’s evolving strategy against terrorism.
“This mission demonstrates our resolve to rely on intelligence-driven air power to weaken terrorist structures and improve security in vulnerable regions,” he said.
Furthermore, the NAF reaffirmed its commitment to sustained aerial surveillance and precision strikes as part of broader national efforts to curb insurgency and restore stability across affected areas.
