Tension has enveloped Sheka Sabuwar Gandu community in Kano metropolis following the killing of a pregnant woman and her 18-month-old son by unknown assailants.
The incident was discovered on Saturday night when the woman’s husband returned from work around 8pm and found their house locked.
It was gathered that he forced his way into the house and found his wife and child lying lifeless, with their bodies reportedly burnt after they were killed.
Confirming the incident, the community leader, Ahmad Sani, lamented that residents had long constructed a police outpost in the area, but authorities allegedly failed to deploy personnel.
He appealed to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Dr Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, to urgently intervene and protect the community.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said he could not comment on the incident, noting that investigations were still ongoing.
