Must read

Four children have been reportedly killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in a reprisal attack in Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Security expert Zagazola Makama reported on his X handle on Saturday that the attack followed an incident in which local militias allegedly attacked herders and rustled 163 cows.

The victims were identified as Precious Joshuah, 17; Isaac Joshuah, 9; Mary Joshuah, 7; and Eve Sambo, 3.

According to Makama, the attack occurred less than 48 hours after coordinated assaults on pastoral communities in Barkin Ladi, Jos East, and Riyom LGAs, during which at least 168 cattle were stolen and several poisoned.

He explained that militia rustled 137 cattle in Nding community, Barkin Ladi LGA, while another 34 cattle were stolen from Kukukah community in Jos East LGA, with only three later recovered.

Makama added that nine cows reportedly died after grazing on poisoned substances around Kwi village in Riyom LGA, heightening tension across the affected areas.

Troops and other security operatives have been deployed to prevent further escalation, while Makama called on the Plateau State government and security agencies to intervene, arrest the perpetrators, and address the root causes of the recurring violence.
