A 36-year-old realtor, Yinka Agboola, has died after allegedly being run over by an unidentified driver during a dispute over a parking space at Royal Pine Estate, Orchid Road, Lekki, Lagos.
The confrontation reportedly arose from disagreement between the suspect and residents over improper parking within the estate. Witnesses said the driver became hostile when asked to move his vehicle to ease traffic flow.
The incident occurred on Monday evening, according to local accounts. An X user, @Ifeoluwaar, who first raised the alarm on Thursday, said the residents had offered the suspect an alternative parking space after noticing his vehicle was obstructing movement.
“The situation began when the individual involved was politely asked to move his vehicle from the middle of the road to allow free movement.
“Despite being offered an alternative parking spot, he replied to a resident, ‘Do you know who I am? I will kill you right now,’” the post read.
The witness added that Agboola intervened to help de-escalate the confrontation. “Residents tried to stop him, but the suspect sped off with Yinka clinging to the wheel, then slammed the brakes, flinging him onto the pavement and into a gutter. He was left unconscious,” the account stated.
CCTV footage circulating online showed a white Mercedes-Benz reversing dangerously toward a crowd and striking Agboola.
He was rushed to an intensive care unit, but social media updates confirmed his death in the early hours of Wednesday.
Agboola’s sister, Oluwadamilola, told our Daily Post that the matter had been reported at the Ajah Police Division. “I went to the Ajah police station. The witnesses had already been there earlier, but I went yesterday to give my statement,” she said, noting that the suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, when contacted, requested that enquiries be sent via text message. She had not responded as of filing this report.
