Must read

The Corporate Affairs Commission has rolled out new compulsory conditions for business name online updates as part of efforts to tighten verification and improve the accuracy of its records.

In an announcement posted on its X handle on Wednesday, the commission said applicants would now be required to provide additional personal and contact details when submitting update requests on its portal.

“Under the new guidelines, every Business Name Online Update submission must include date of birth, registered office email, proprietor’s email address, phone number for the registered office or proprietor, where different and a valid means of identification,” CAC stated.

The agency noted that the fresh requirements are designed to strengthen documentation integrity, curb fraudulent alterations, and ensure smoother communication with business owners across the country.

It added that the reforms align with ongoing efforts to modernise its systems and make its operations more secure and efficient for entrepreneurs.

According to the commission, the enhanced data requirements will also support compliance checks and improve the reliability of its database.

Business proprietors were urged to adhere strictly to the guidelines to prevent delays in the processing of their online update requests.

The CAC, which oversees business registrations and administration in Nigeria, has in recent years migrated most of its services to digital platforms to ease access for users nationwide.
