Popular skitmaker cum actor, Cute Abiola has penned an emotional open letter to Funke Akindele ahead of the release of her new movie ‘Behind The Scenes’.
The 29-year-old shared the message on Instagram, praising the filmmaker for her “creativity, discipline and impact” on the industry.
Reflecting on attending the movie’s premiere, he wrote: “I had the privilege of attending the premiere of BEHIND THE SCENES, and I’ve been searching for the right words ever since. Not because the words are not there, but because no matter what I write, it may still not fully capture what you achieved with this movie.”
He added: “What you created is beyond a film. It is a mirror, a memory, and a message wrapped inside pure emotion. At a point, I looked around the hall and you could feel the emotion sitting on everyone’s shoulders. People weren’t just watching a movie. They were connecting with it.”
Cute Abiola praised Funke’s consistency, saying: “Your consistency is something this industry will study for years… You keep raising the bar, challenging yourself, and reminding us that excellence is not an act, it’s a lifestyle.”
He described the film as a blend of storytelling and life lessons. “BEHIND THE SCENES is not just entertainment; it is therapy, it is reflection, it is a gift… Thank you for showing younger filmmakers like us that greatness is possible when passion meets discipline.”
Behind The Scenes, directed by Funke Akindele and Tunde Olaoye, features Tobi Bakre, Destiny Etiko, Ibrahim Chatta, Ini Dima-Okojie, Uche Montana, Uzor Arukwe and Iyabo Ojo.
The film, which explores hidden personal struggles, premiered in the UK on December 4, in Nigeria on December 7, and will be released nationwide on December 12.
